This community was never intended to seriously be used, but hey, what the hell why now throw something out there!
So, here's a question for you:Why do we fight?
Why are we at war? Is it worth it?
I, personally, don't have an answer. I feel uneasy that we, as a nation, can't even decide on what we're fighting for. I had a huge rant here but I cut it out.
I laugh at the irony of the United States. Here we are, a nation founded from the idea of freedom and liberty, now forcing our own form of democracy and government onto other nations. I understand that democracy is a good thing, but if a country -- such as Iraq -- wants to obtain it's own
democracy by itself
, then it should be allowed to. Usually people feel better when they make something themselves than just take what's thrusted upon them, and American democracy may not be the BEST solution for ALL nations. Iraq may want Iraqi democracy instead of American, and it should be allowed to have it.
I can't answer "is it worth it", either, because seriously, what's the "it" in "worth it"? As much as I'm for war, this particular one I feel just made things worse for everyone. the United States shouldn't have even sponsered the people it did in the first place, wtf. B<
I also find it ironic that the US is the only country opposing the creation of the ICC (International Criminal Court). It wants to keep prosecuting terrorists, but it doesn't want to be prosecuted itself. The US has committed a lot of terrorism (Maehyang-ri, South Korea; Vieques, Puerto Rico; etc), and if it wants to bash and prosecute other countries for it, it should take the responsibility for its own actions, too.
